Training is offered by Cortney Shipley, who carries a degree in Equine Management and Training from the University of Salem International -- along with 20 years of riding experience. She has successfully competed at the National level. We offer training in Hunt Seat, Western, and Saddle Seat. Henderson training horses include Arabians, Half-Arabians, Quarter horses, Saddlebreds, Percherons, and Thoroughbreds. However, all breeds are welcome. Henderson Equestrian Complex trainers are patient and work with their horses at the level appropriate for each individual equine. Lessons are also given by Cortney Shipley in western and english disciplines, preparing the rider for competing in horse shows or just learning the basics. We accept riders of all ages and levels of experience.

  • Lessons

Lessons are given by Cortney Shipley in Western and English diciplines, preparing the rider for competing in horse shows or just learning the basics.

We accept riders of all experience.  For children, helmets are required.  If the student does not have one of their own, we have a variety of approved headgear available at the barn.  For adults, a release form must be signed if they choose not to wear a helmet while riding.  We also require each rider or child's guardian to sign release forms before their first lesson.

Riders will spend the first 15 minutes of their lesson grooming and tacking their horse (supervised by their instructor and helped when needed).  The next 30 minutes students spend on the horse.  They are taught at their level of skill.  The last 15 minutes are spent untacking and grooming the horse.  Each week we teach the students a few new vocabulary words about horse parts, riding tack, and other equestrian items.

The price of a private lesson:  $30.00

Please call Cortney for more information.
